Road accidents can cause serious injury and financial hardship. Acting quickly after an accident protects your right to compensation and insurance payments.
Immediately after the accident
- Get medical treatment first and keep every hospital record and bill.
- Make sure the accident is reported to the traffic police and obtain a copy of the police report (मुचुल्का/प्रतिवेदन).
- Note the vehicle number, driver’s details and any witnesses. Take photos if you can do so safely.
Insurance claims
Vehicles in Nepal must carry third-party insurance, which can cover injury or death caused to others. Claims are made to the insurer of the vehicle involved, with the police report, medical documents and identity documents. Delays can weaken a claim, so start early.
